Gothic pyxis in enamelled champlevé copper. Limoges 13th century.

Pyxis in enamelled, engraved, chased and gilded champlevé copper. Blue, green and turquoise enamels. Our pyxis is composed of a cylindrical body and a conical lid topped with a cross. The body has alternating medallions decorated with asters and fleurons. The lid has the same decoration. The gilded fleurons are framed by scrolls and stand out against turquoise enamels. Limoges, mid-13th century.

Original summit cross, re-soldered closure, slightly deserted bottom.
